AWON Membership

Did your father die, or was he listed as MIA, as a result of service during WWII? You have just discovered what may be the link to the past that has been missing from your life. If you know about, have ever felt, or recognize the “Wall of Silence” in your life, you’re one of us, so please take this opportunity to join.

Membership in the American WWII Orphans Network brings much more than you might imagine. Many resources are available that assist you in discovering more information about the man you might never have known, including our quarterly newsletter, The Star. Our newsletter provides information about national conferences, regional gatherings, reunions, and so much more.

AWON Membership Types

We offer several different types of memberships based on your relationship to the WWII hero in question. Sons and daughters would qualify for an Orphan Membership; widows, siblings, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren would qualify for Family Membership; friends and individuals wishing to honor those who gave their life during or because of WWII qualify for an Associate Membership; finally, companies and organizations wishing to support AWON and its mission would qualify for an Organization Membership.

Orphan Member *

Any son or daughter of a member of the Armed Forces, Coast Guard or Merchant Marine who was killed in the line of duty, permanently listed as Missing in Action, or who later died of wounds or injuries sustained during WWII is eligible to join as an Orphan Member of AWON.

Family Member *

Any directly-traceable relative of a member of the Armed Forces, Coast Guard or Merchant Marine who was killed in the line of duty, permanently listed as Missing in Action, or who later died of wounds or injuries sustained during WWII is eligible to join as a Family Member of AWON.

Supporting Member

Any individual or organization who is interested to learn more about our Fathers, wishes to support the AWON mission, and participate in AWON activities is eligible and welcome to join as an Supporting Member.

* Orphan and Family Members vote on the “Orphan Issues” of our organization. Associate Members maintain non-voting status, but receive The Star Newsletter and are encouraged to participate in most AWON activities.
